L’Estornell Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
VEA of Catalonia is Northern Spain’s leading family-owned and operated producer of extra virgin olive oils under the L’Estornell name - a Catalan word for an olive-loving bird, depicted on the label. L’Estornell’s international reputation for creating oils with perfect balance of texture, flavor and style can be attributed to the region’s unique terroir, a wild terraced landscape with dry, hot summers and cold winters. Time-honored cultivation methods, artful blending, and the family’s personal attention have created one of the most sought after oils in the world. Every bottle is vintage-dated.

Our recipe: Oil and Vinegar “Dressing”
L’Estornell is the result of pressing Arbequina olives and two other northern Spain varieties, both of which impart a peppery quality and spicy aftertaste. L’Estornell Organic made from 100% Arbequina olives has a very fine, almost sweet, slightly nutty-almond taste (attributable to the planting of almond trees among the olive groves: see health benefits).
L’Estornell olive oil is suitable for dressing salads, finishing soups or cooked vegetables and fish.
Olives for L’Estornell Organic use farming methods without pesticides or herbicides to ensure a natural soil. The local practice of planting almonds trees among the olive groves is a traditional deterrent to insect infestation in northern Spain.
