Fleur De Sel Sea Salts & Esprit du Sel

On the historic island of Re on the Atlantic coast of France near La Rochelle and Cognac, naturally intense and flavorful salt has been hand-harvested from the sea since the VII century.  These sea salts taste like the sea and contain iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc and iodine - not merely sodium chloride like industrial salt. 

Fleur de Sel: Literally "the Flower of Salt", is the finest whitest salt skimmed in summer from the thin surface layer of the salt pans.  When piled up it blooms, develops a pink tinge and the aroma of violets.  It looks like snowflakes and is deeply salty.  Use it as a condiment for dipping with raw vegetables or sprinkling on steak and fish.

Ravida Sicilian Sea Salt

Ravida Sicilian Sea Salt - round white grains of intense flavor and subtle sweetness in colorful 1.2 pound and 7 oz. tubs.

RAVIDA Sea Salt is produced from the low waters of the Mediterranean sea along the western coast of Sicily.  It is a natural untreated salt, made to traditional methods, rich in minerals such as iodine, fluorine, magnesium and potassium, all of which make it an ideal table salt. 

The shallow waters of this lagoon, with their high mineral content, combined with the sun and wind, produce this quality sea salt. The salt pans are filled with seawater in the spring and left to evaporate under the intense heat of the Sicilian sun and strong African winds. 

Harvesting takes place once the water has evaporated.  The salt is piled firstly into small heaps inside the salt pans and then into larger piles along the edges where they are protected from the rain with clay tiles.  It is then simply crushed and ground without further refining.

The combination of different minerals and the naturally low percentage of sodium chloride in RAVIDA sea salt gives it a delicate taste and plenty of flavor without being too strong or salty.
