Amaretti Sour

Amaretto Sours were very popular in the ‘70’s. Justifiably so, except that they were usually made with a mix. With its combination of almond, cherry and chocolate balanced with lemon, fortified with Bourbon and capped with snow-white foam; this is the perfect libation to serve at your Christmas gathering. We rim the glass with crushed amaretti. Here is how to make one from scratch.



  • 1 ½ oz bourbon
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz amaretto
  • 2 dashes of chocolate bitters
  • 1 tbs. Toschi Cherry Syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • Lazzaroni amaretti cookies- Crushed for rim


Time: 15 minutes
Yield: 1

Make the cocktail

  • Rim Coupe glass with crushed Lazzaroni amaretti cookies
  • Combine bourbon, lemon juice, amaretto, chocolate bitters, cherry syrup & egg white to a shaker – NO ice
  • Shake for 10 seconds
  • Add ice to shaker
  • Shake for 5 more seconds
  • Strain into cookie rimmed coupe glass
